T56 help !! Might be in over my head

Ok I'm looking for a little help I recently purchased a T56 for my 68 that I'll be running behind a lq9 6.0. I've looked around on here and ls1 tech and kinda been unsuccessful in finding what I need. Basically I have the trans and don't know what I need.

I don't have the clutch, flywheel etc. I've never put a manual in a truck always been an automatic man but thought I'd change it up this time.

The truck was previously a standard so pedal is there but I don't know what all I need to make it work or do I have to change pedal assemblies.

I might be in over my head and might just try to sale it but I'd like to give it a shot.

If anybody has done one of these and would like to list the parts needed that would be awesome and greatly appreciated or point me in the right direction that would work as well.

For the clutch pedal you could adapt a later style hydraulic clutch, converting back to manual tranny isn't hard especially when your truck used to be manual, might have to figure something out for the shifter though

Lots of guys have them. I have one in my truck, shifter location is pretty close to the same, you have to figure out the clutch situation but its really a cool setup - having a 5-speed in the pickup is the way to go. There is a lot of info on this site about them. Do a search on tremec transmissions, or look at some of the builds. You wont regret it.

Check out trkfrk 's build (linked), there is a lot of info and other links in his build about using a T56. After test driving an LS2/T56 GTO I really really want to have one some day too.

I would check out americanpowertrain.com they dont have a specific kit, but they specialize in putting standards in different vehicles and may be able to help guide you.

Look at a parts fiche and start counting up the parts.
1. Bell housing (hopefully with stud for throwout arm)
2. Throwout arm
3. Throwout bearing
4. Linkage from your pedal to the throwout arm
5. Decide how you want to shift and get the linkage
6. Driveshaft yoke
