Is there a write up on the Jeep steering shaft conversion.

Just came across someone mentioning it and trying to find out more about it. Exactly why is it done and if there is a link to it then please post. I assume this can be done to 2wd and 4wd trucks both. Does it just give a more responsive feel and take out the slop?

idk about jeep. I used an Astro van shaft. Has u-joints on both ends and required only slight modification.

Okay so what does this do exactly. From what I gather so far it is to give you better feel in the wheel and maybe take out some of the play? Is that right?

It does take out the slop and make it more responsive. Current GM trucks are set up this way.

To be clear, anyone thinking about doing this upgrade you need a 79 and newer steering column as they have the double D shaft on the engine compartment side.
