What color interior?

Started trimming the cab this past weekend. No pictures of the inside just yet, just the firewall. The color is called Bright Turquoise. The color looks more green in person, very much like light green. I'm kind of hung up on an interior color. Green is out, at least while I'm typing this. Who knows one of you may have a picture of green on green trucks that change my mind. I think black is out. Too much contrast. What would you guys suggest? Pictures greatly appreciated!

Parchment (my fav.)? Saddle ? The parchment would prob use black steering wheel, dash pad, and carpet.
New paint looks beautiful.

I was thinking seriously about a Saddle or even a lighter Buckskin interior. I just picked up a super tight factory non-tilt column that's black and a black wrapped billet steering wheel. Do you think leaving the column and wheel black would clash with the Saddle or Buckskin on everything else? Oh, thanks for the compliment on the paint! I didn't think I would ever get to the point of squirting paint! Things should move a little faster now. I hope!

I'm not sure. The shop belongs to a friend of mine, who bought it from my Uncle several years ago. Honestly, ever time I see that thing I always wonder how it could have happened! I know there has got to be a story behind it, and I probably should be glad I wasn't there when it happened. Some weird things can happen in shops!!

Re: What color interior?

Tilt columns and wheels were black no matter what color the rest of interior was. But that was when they were new

All tilts/wheels were black regardless of the rest of the interior? I wasn't aware of that. The column/wheel I removed was the original body color which was Medium Turquoise Poly. It was a I6, 3 speed manual, non-tilt GMC.

They were all black IF it had tilt. Wasn't sure if you were asking if all columns were black or just tilt wheel setups were black. Lots of guys go ahead and paint the body color now, but if your going for a "factory correct" look a tilt column and wheel should be black.

On the interior color, I would go with parchment as well.

Re: What color interior?

Saddle or buckskin would get my vote too, I love that combo with the color of your truck.

Not the same color as your truck, but here's "Saddle" with the black steer column.

Re: What color interior?

I love Saddle, but never with "that" color. I'd rather see black. I agree with Parchment but I think the Aqua color would look fantastic. Many '60s cars were blue w/blue interior, green w/green,gold w/gold,etc. and it looks great. Not matching colors but complimentary.

Special-k,

Could you post some pictures of trucks with the Aqua interior? I hadn't considered that color when excluding "green" as an option. I had a '64 and '66 Impala, both had that interior. The photo of my firewall is deceptive! It looks so blue in the picture but its actually very close to Light (SeaFoam?) Green, at least to my eye.

Thanks,
Danny

Re: What color interior?

I know you said you're afraid that black would have too much contrast, but sometimes contrast like that looks nice. Think chrome and black. Salty and sweet.

I went with a black interior with my light blue truck, and I'm pleased. My blue isn't as light as yours, but you get the idea. Also, keep in mind that as parchment ages, it sort of gets a yellowish ivory tint to it.

Re: What color interior?

Thats a nice rig you have there Mister-B! The contrast isn't nearly as glaring as I thought it would be. I thought the same about the "yellowing." There is a forum member, can't remember his name. He has a 67-68 thats slammed running Blazer caps I think. His truck is a similar color as mine. If I can remember his screen name I'm going to do a search to see if he has some interior shots. I

Thanks. Appreciate it. You wouldn't believe how bad the interior was a few months ago.

Re: What color interior?

I guess I don't have many interior pictures. The third one is an interesting combo with Fawn. Very '60s!

Re: What color interior?

Special-k,

I really like the first and second photos!! Decision made! Now if I could get fortunate enough that my color is close enough to the factory color that I can buy covers and carpet that will match up.
Is the first one Aqua?

You better start checking with the parts vendors to see if you can even get parts in the colors you're wanting. That's one reason why I went with black. My truck had the one year only '69 navy blue interior. Went to replace my cracked dash pad, and guess what? Nobody makes parts in navy anymore.

Re: What color interior?

The original color of my cab is Medium Turquoise Poly. If I remember correctly, the seat and dash were some form of green (pine). I was all set to go with some version of a tan, but the contrast in special-k's 3rd picture absolutely changed my mind! I hope that maybe I can find some material samples to try against the paint and kind of go from there.
