I would call him and see what he wants.
If you do not like what he has to say then tell him the you took a day off work thing and stick with it. I know it is in your best interest to find out why he is calling. Whats the worst that can happen by you calling?

I would see what he has to say but before I agreed to anything I would call the court clerk and find out if what he is proposing is legit.I have no idea of the laws there but remember that when you go against city hall you never win.

In Missouri, you are allowed to contact the court and request one continuance and the officer is allowed one also. When you finally get to court, you both are sworn in to tell the truth, and then you lose. Your truth carries the wieght of one to the court. The officer being employed in law enforcement is assumed to be honest in his or her job and additionally on the stand. He is worth two. 2 to 1. You lose.
Had a judge tell me that he believed me, but he believed the cop more.

If you actually commited the infraction, you have no right to fight it. Here in Washington, you can go to court and try to explain your actions and the judge may reduce the fine.

You also have the right to be innocent until PROVEN guilty.
I was stopped because the officer thought that it appeared that I was driving fast. I was faster than other traffic, TRUE, but they were taking an off-ramp and I was not. I asked to see the radar. He had none. I asked if he paced me and he said no, he caught up to me. Then he must have been going faster than I was. I asked if he timed me and he said NO again. Just looked like I was faster than the other people. I pointed to the offramp and he let it drop. Maybe it was my lucky day but if he had written a ticket, I would have fought it.
Just my right.

Agreed. IF you are in fact guilty, drink a very big cup of STFU, suck it up, and drive on. Be a man, not a mouse and own up to your fault.

palallin-a agree, i was in the wrong, its funny up here though, maybe us young guys are different but any of my buddies who get tickets dispute them because the cop rarely shows up in small claims court and they throw the charge out. more times then less you get away with it, so i thought id give it a shot

Man you F''ed up. I would have never called his sorry arse. Make him show up when it's not convienent to him, he's the one who didn't care if it was convienent whe he pulled you over.

Cops are regular people just like you and me (they lie too!). The only problem is the Judges don't see it this way and you're going to pay the fine if he shows.

I would have never called, matter of fact I would approach the court and say it's unacceptable for him to be yanking your chain around by changing the dates.

Around here too, most of the time the cop doesn't show up. And if they do usually the fudge lets the people off with a smaller fine, depends on the peoples attitude.
Try not to piss him off too much cause it can come back and bite you in the A$$.

I got lucky on my first speeding ticket. It was my first car ( 92 sunbird) and wanted to see how fast it would go. He clocked me doing something like 80 in a 60, but I didn't see him and started to speed up cause it was now an 80. Well I decided to cool it cause I was getting close to town and hit about 140-160 but seen these headlights coming up behind me like I was stopped and I was still doing at least 120. He came right up on my bumper then turned on his lights.

He only gave me a ticket for 20 over, BUT
he forgot to put the year on the ticket, I went to pay it the next day and they told me the cop screwed up so here ya go ( gave me back the ticket) and have a noce day.

Let's just say it was fun to use it for fuel for the fire at a party, and the look on those peoples faces when I was burning my ticket.

OOppppsss
completly off topic but just had to share.

I would still try and tell him that you can't change the date and most likely that won't accomplish anything, so when you go to court try to be on their good sides and you may get off easier.
