Brothers QC issues
I have been using ECE (Stan) for most of my resto/hotrod frame-off rebuild of my '72. But, I needed a pair of UCA and I wanted to also upgrade my front end. ECE had provided all of the new Moog inner/outer stuff etc, but I liked the idea of a stiffer more rigid (that's what she said) tie rod adjusting sleeve. The nuts provided would thread onto the tie rods but there is no way I could get the sleeve started, no matter which tie rod I used. I know there is left and right hand threads and I checked them closely. To make matters worse, the alignment shop couldn't get the sleeves started either.
So, I'm out extra $ for the alignment and the UCA arms were clearly underdesigned so I welded 2 stiffeners to each one. Has anyone else had a problem with the quality of parts from Brothers? |

Re: Brothers QC issues
You need to find out who the vendor is that supplies Brothers with there UCA's and other suspension parts. Remember they are just a supplier for the vendor.
My personal issue with Brothers is why does it take two whole months + (still waiting) to get dash bezels off of back order? If I had to make someone wait more than two weeks, I would get them from another vendor and eat some cost to keep my customers happy. Good Luck |

Re: Brothers QC issues
this is why im sandblasting mine right now. I expect any parts like that will be thin garbage metal. Of course blasting and grinding off 50 year old dirt I was wishing I had bought new ones.

Re: Brothers QC issues
I would have blasted mine and restored them but the PO did not understand that lubricants (grease) were required in moving joints. The QC issue concerns me because both parts are poor quality, yet they cost a premium price. No more Brothers for me! (She also said that)

Re: Brothers QC issues
I've used Brothers in the past with much success. When I had an issue John made things right. You can't ask for more than that.

Re: Brothers QC issues
i don't know anything about brothers. never ordered from them. what i do know is i sell about parts at one of the "good" parts stores. you know the one you go to when the kid at oriellys can't figure it out.
i'll say this. it's very hard to buy any real quality auto parts. almost everything you buy is from china. and is junk. knowing what i know i'll also say that brothers is no different than any of us. we only know what we are told by the supplier. if you buy front end parts from napa or carquest you will get as good a parts as there is. problem is, most guys balk at the price, start doing the "fred sanford" and buy the cheap stuff, and then ***** about the quality. |

Re: Brothers QC issues
I have to tell you that John at Brothers contacted me pretty fast to discuss the problem. John sent out another pair of adjusters which arrived today and worked perfectly. It appears that the original pair (for a different truck) may have been sent by mistake.
I owe John and the Brothers staff an apology because it was NOT a quality control problem but a simple error. |

Re: Brothers QC issues
I used to work for a supplier of solid tie rod sleeves, so I know of what I speak. There are really only 3 different types of common sleeves for most vehicles (yeap Ford, Chrysler, and GM), there are two different lengths and two different thread sizes/pitch. There is a 5/8 diameter and the 11/16 thread diameter, the 67 up trucks use the 11/16 if memory serves. I bet that Brothers got a 5/8 set in with their shipment of sleeves from the manufacture. Give them a call and ask for another set.
