Front disc brakes 5 lug and 6 lug rear
I am looking into putting disc brakes on my truck but I have 6 lug wheels and I already have a 1983 Chevy truck crossmember and all the parts blasted and painted along with the new rotor and calipers. Plus new ball joints and tie rods.
Will it look funny wth 5 lug front wheels and 6 lug rear wheels, I love the look of the 4x4 ralleys and I have the 5 lug rallys to go on the front to match. Does anyone else have 5 lug front and 6 lug rear that can post a picture.

I bet if you don't tell anyone that they are different it will take them a long time to notice. Especially if you have the center caps on. Most people switch the rear to 5 lug because they want custom wheels, but if you only want stock ralleys, then I don't see why you could have 5 lug front and 6 lug rear. Defiantely if you already have all the parts, then if you decide later to change the rear it won't be too hard. It'll save you money since you won't have to buy new wheels for the back. I say go for it.

You'll just need two different spares.

I would say go for it.Just make sure yoou keep the extra rally's for the style you want. Then if you ever have to replace rotors or rearends you can go to all the same.

I put a a front and rear out of a 78 in my 70 ALL I had to do was make a 3/4" spacer for each axle (between the backing plate & axle housing) and used the donor brake drums.

I was just looking around and I saw a 6 lug rotor for the front brakes. Is this just a bolt on part for the 71-newer 1/2 ton 4x2 trucks and compatable with all the stock parts like the calipers and spindles. I want to keep my 6 lug wheels I like the offset of the 4x4 ralleys to the 4x2 ralleys the are a little deeper.

I think the 6 lug rotors are only for use with the drum spindles. They are a way to get discs without having to get new spindles. I don't know if anyone makes a 6 lug rotor for use with the 71+ spindles. Maybe one of the vendors on the board will know.

GMC Pauls has a 6 lug rotor kit that fits 73-87 spindles. I've looked into it for the same reason.
