Gearstar 4L80E

4L80E - Level IV Transmission (Up to 800hp) with Converter
60,000 GVW Cooler with Integrated Fan
Lokar Tube & Stick
HGM Compushift CSII Controller
8 Quarts Synthetic Blend ATF inside transmission with 3 Quarts Castrol Dextron III Multi Vehicle ATF in crate

I don't have any pictures of this trans as it's at Nate's(Porterbuilt) shop in Arizona. I have included a stock photo from Gearstar's website. I had this built for my next build, but have decided to go a different direction and don't need a trans built to this level anymore. I paid a little over $5100 for this trans and it hasn't left its crate. I still have the receipt from gearstar if anyone wants it.

Asking $4250 obo

Re: Gearstar 4L80E

Wow that would be a deal for most any one who wants a awesome trans such as this. I need to check on 2 things as I live close enough to Akron Oh. to pick one up and there is a retired Hydramatic (GM Powertrain) engineer that builds these for racers all over the country and he owes me a quote and a list of pieces and parts that will be put in or upgraded on the trans. before I commit to this one as I am on a budget and trying to save every penny so I can actually complete my project I have set aside money for this type of trans as it is what I have wanted even though it is a little over kill for my truck project but I have always been of the mind heavier than needed is always better. My truck is a big block 500 ish horse/tourqe 580 with 4.11 gears. I will check on the other 2 and if this one is the best deal I will let you know ASAP. If some one buys it mean time so be it and they will have an awesome trans for sure. What way are you going to get away form this type of trans. Just curious

Re: Gearstar 4L80E

I'm probably going with a mild ls, haven't decided 100%, but for now everything is pushed back for baby #2

Just let me know, I have some wiggle room in there also if that helps

Re: Gearstar 4L80E

I understand. One question with the level 4 trans do you think it would work with a level 2- 3 converter as just checked the RPM range on the 4 10 inch and it is to much for my cam, intake, carb set up.

Re: Gearstar 4L80E

I'm really not that experienced with transmissions, but I would guess they can put any stall converter in the trans to match your engine output

Re: Gearstar 4L80E

Ok Thanks for the info I will check it out and get back. That would not stop me from making a deal on it, as I am sure you are right. With my little knowledge of Auto trans's I have always been a stick guy the can make converters match almost anything out there in combination. Get back to you soon.

Re: Gearstar 4L80E

I still have this trans, minus the torque converter, if anyone is interested. I'll do 2250.

Re: Gearstar 4L80E

Other than the drive shaft length, what mods need to be made to fit this into a 72 Blazer? I have a TH350 in it now. I am very interested in this. Looks like the controller takes care of any retrofit issues as well, correct?

Re: Gearstar 4L80E

I know you will have to modify the trans crossmember. The only other thing I can think of would be the hump in the cab, not sure if this trans fits the standard(low) hump or not. The controller does take care o retrofit issues.

Re: Gearstar 4L80E

Not really looking at any trades at the moment. I'm leaning towards just keeping it.
