a friend struck gold!

well sorta, a friend of mine brad is 20 years old, he has been mowing this old ladys lawn for years now, well about a month ago she passed away then about a week later a lawyer called brad and said he inheritated a percentage of her estate, and was told to come sign some papers, he said he had no idea what he was going to get, didnt really care either, well turns out he ended up with 55 grand! what a lucky bastard. he just bought a brand new chevy extreme pickup. kinda a neat story i thought id share with you guys, maybe be nice to that old lady neighbour...you never know!

wow! cool!

One time I was working with my dad staining this dudes deck, ( I was about 9-10). Well we finished the deck, and I got my 10 bucks or so from my dad. The next day, he saw my dad and gave my dad 200 extra dollars to give to me. the old codger said he liked the way I worked hard. 2 weeks later he committed suicide.

Anywho, that made my YEAR when that happened (200 bucks is a lot of money for a 9 year old)

If I got that kind of $$$ I would have put it toward a house. But if he is happy with the truck, well, I guess that's cool too.

cool story, it reminds me of a 55 yr old finishing carpenter I knew, he took care of this old geser and his two dogs, the old guy died and left every thing to the carpenter, on one condition, he take care of his dogs,He got enough to retire and build himself a big house and his kid got a house out of the deal too, never knew exactly how much he got, but must of been a s#it load, you know what the first thing the pr!ck did, had the two dogs put to sleep

My late aunt took care of elderly people after she retired from her job. She ended up with a car and a house (a nice one in a nice part of town), when the couple had both passed away. She had no idea of what was going to happen. The man's brother said he didn't need the house, and since the couple had no other living heirs, it was hers....lock, stock and carport.

You just can't go thru life, tho, tryin' to figure out if being nice to this person or that person is going to make them do something nice for you when they're gone. That would just be wrong. It doesn't mean that people don't do it everyday.

Reinforces the Golden Rule, don't it?

Very true Ray, I am a firm believer in this as well. My parents always told me to be positive in any situation and positive things will happen back upon you.
I wouldn't refer to your friend as a lucky bastartd, but more of a mr nice guy. This is living proof that " It pays to be nice"

One of my friends buddy knew a ex-con up in the hills. The guy was cool but just seemed to slip up to much. Well the feds were after him and he was giving stuff away that he owned. One of the thing he gave to my friend buddy was a rs/ss camaro. its good to be nice to someone and be there friend, this was the reason why he got it.

Good for him, I'm glad to see the nice guy didn't finish last this time.

Back when I was 16 or 17, I was riding my bike to a friends house across town. I needed to take a leak so I went in to a church to use their can. Well they were having a funeral for some dude, so I decided to sign my name and address on the registry before I went to the bathroom. Well about a month later, I recieved a $100 check from the dudes estate, because I signed the log.
