350 wont crank
I left town for the weekend and when I tried to crank up my 76 k10, nothing happened. It was running last week not sure what happened. I put the battery on the charger and it now reads 12.95 so Its holding a charge. When I turn the key, literally nothing happens. The brake light goes on on the dash even when I have the pedal depressed. I don't think it is recognizing the pedal being depressed. But on the other hand I don't know if it needs to be depressed to start. I always press the pedal before I start it. Any suggestions?

Re: 350 wont crank
No pedal pressing required, not that it's a bad idea, but no physical need.
Simple corrosion on the terminals can stop a truck that started yesterday. Disconnect and clean both ends of the wires. Please be safe about it, batteries can be dangerous. Always disconnect the ground first and re-connect it last.

Re: 350 wont crank
Be sure you have power at the positive cable on the solenoid at the starter. I had something like this happen on my 73. On the firewall usually above the distributor, there is a junction block. It is some type of fuse. You will see one or two bigger wires going to it. Sometimes, a smaller wire too. I think this powers up the fuse box. Be sure you have power on both sides of the block on the firewall. If not jump them. Another test if you have power at the places I mentioned is this. Be sure the truck will not leap ahead or roll. Turn the key on to run...crawl under and get to the starter...with a screwdriver, jump the big positive cable to the small signal wire. This should bypass the safety and it should crank.

Re: 350 wont crank
Had a similar issue on my 305. Battery was good, alternator good, good fusible links. That's what the previous poster is talking about. Turns out it was a actuator rack (not proper nomenclature) in the steering column that works with the ignition switch. All I did was adjust the column tilt down and fired up every time since then. Though I would definitely start with the battery and work your way from there.
