My new work/play/man's truck...

Been looking for a 1964-1966 C10 fleetside big rear window truck for a while and after looking at a few rust buckets for $3000+ finally expanded my search. Happened upon this 1986 silverado on a facebook auto group, it was the exact opposite of what I was looking for as it was a long bed, 2wd, with a 305. Drove 1.5 hours and did some haggling but didn't end up working out a deal then but that night finalized a deal and they drove it to me the next afternoon. Ended up with a pretty decent (in my opinion) 86 C20 for just at $1k. It's nice enough to be relatively proud of but not too nice to get a little dirty and haul some stuff.

I just need to adjust the carb and check the timing. Runs well right now but hesitates a little at low speeds and backfires like a gunshot within 3 sec of shutting it down. I'll take some better pictures and maybe start a project thread.

good looking truck. From the way it sounds you got some wiggle room for goodies and still make a few dollars if you wanted to resale it.

I think you got one hell of a deal. You would be Very hard pressed to find a truck in that good of shape for that price here. I would have given 1000 in a heartbeat. Looks like a pretty clean ride. Congrats!

Nice truck. $1000 for the truck and about another $1000 for gas for six months or so.

Haha luckily it's not my daily. Got a 2004 Pontiac vibe with 175k on the clock

AWESOME NEWS... I was hoping the person I bought it from was wrong about the 305 (not that I have anything against a 305 but I'd like a 350)

I just checked the block code and it was a little hard to read but I believe it was 14010207 which shows up on http://www.nastyz28.com/sbchevy/sblock.php as a 1980-85 350 4bolt main truck engine.

The only thing that stinks is from the options label it had a 454 originally that is long gone...oh well.

Tons of options though. I'll post more pictures later.

Look on the bright side - you could have done a lot worse! Nice truck, though.

I think you did great. I LOVE IT! I had an 83 C20 for almost 10 years. It was awesome, but when I moved; I sold it. We did a lot of stuff together

Re: My new work/play/man's truck...

If it still had the 454, make that about $1800 for six months of driving.
I have a 454 83 C20 so I have some experience there.
