WTB 6' Fleetside Bed
I am really looking for a 1967 Bed with a Steel Floor but would take a 68-72 bed... it must be pretty much rust free and all panels pretty straight and no "bondo"... I know I am asking a lot but I have decided to build a show truck do I want extremely good parts... Thanks... Dan

Re: WTB 6' Fleetside Bed
Dan, I think you would be better off to buy all aftermarket parts except the floor if you find a good one. LS1nova has built two trucks with aftermarket beds that sold for over $30,000. The bed stuff is good. You can spend alot for a nice OEM short bed and still have a lot of work left to do. Just my opinion. Good luck.

Re: WTB 6' Fleetside Bed
Thanks Mike... That is where I was going to go with it but a friend of mine did the Aftermarket bedsides and while they are stamped pretty nice the metal is pretty thin and isn't as strong... I am Trolling here for the original but may end up with a LMC truck bed... Thanks for the info... Dan

Re: WTB 6' Fleetside Bed
One thing for sure, some jewels are still out there. Maybe our west coast members will come up with something.
I do not know if everybody's panels are the same but I'd check the weight difference out between LMC, Chevy Duty, Goodmark & Mar K. If there is a heavier panel it would have thicker steel right ? |

Re: WTB 6' Fleetside Bed
Dan, I have bought some sheet metal from you in the past, and I know what you're looking for man. .. I am too! I'm not having much luck.
I noticed a thread on the beds from Southern Kentucky classics the other day. www.sokyclassics.com .. I'll see if I can find it. Apparently they are a distributor for a company making reproduction bed panels that 'are as good or better quality than OEM' Several people say they are better, the metal is actually heavier than OEM. Super straight panels, the fit is nice and they offer them even without stake pocket holes. They are out of Bowling Green. I'm going to go that route. By the time you pay $1200+ for a good GM bed, then take it apart, blast it.. primer, etc. You'd have about $1800 in it. For $2200 you can get all new stuff from SoKy.

Re: WTB 6' Fleetside Bed
Dan,
I bought a fleet side bed with wood floor for my daughters truck from southern classics. I used engineered decking material for the floor. Stop by on your way to Wichita next time and you can take a closer look at it. *Note to others looking for a bed. Take the sides out of the boxes and look them over good. Obviously the outers but the inners under the rails. I made that mistake and after getting in a hurry to prep them, I didn't see the pencil sized hole high in the upper inside. Once you sand on them at all, it cannot be returned. My mistake, don't learn it yourself. Mike Posted via Mobile Device |

Nice Bed Budnikguy!
Someone needs to arrange a West Coast trip with a large trailer to bring some rust free stuff back. |

Re: WTB 6' Fleetside Bed
Well I went over to Cash3481' s house today and looked at his bed... I have decided the heck with it... I am going for the Repop bed... Now I am trying to decide which supplier to use... LMC, Classic Parts of America or Southern Kentucky Classics... As of Right Now the last one has the best pricing... I am going to contact all of them on Monday and Check to see what the total will be with shipping...

At almost 1400 miles round trip to SoKy it is a good strong 2-3 day trip and at the cost of fuel I just don't think that would be cost effective... Now if in the End I go with LMC or CPoA they are in Kansas City which is about 400 miles round trip then that is a day trip and very doable... SoKy actually has the bedsides without stake pockets that I want... |

Woodall Industries makes the panels SoKy sells from what I understand.
