Where to find a manual mc. 71 chevy c20

Im trying to find a manual mc for a c20 but am having trouble. I bought what I thought was a correct mc but the part where the push rod goes into the mc is to shallow. I called summit and he said that the shallow one is for manual brakes not power but yet Im told the deeper mc is correct for manual brakes. Can anybody shed light on this? And if I need a mc for non power breaks where can I find one?
Thanks

Have you tried local parts stores, that is where we get a lot of parts for our old trucks.

Ya they all have set ups for power brakes. I'd rather not have power brakes but idk if I have a choice...

Hmm... since 1971 was the first year for power front disc brakes, I wonder if no trucks were offered with a manual master cylinder.

Maybe one from a 1969 or a 1970 would work?

Re: Where to find a manual mc. 71 chevy c20

I have seen and I'm not sure if the truck was a 72 or 71 manual brakes. The discs were standard in 71-72 but Power Brakes were still an option you had to pay for. In the late 80's I bought a 68 Barracuda Formula S model that had the factory 383 and 4 speed manual. The car was original and had front manual disc brakes. A little research showed that in order to get the 383 in the Barracuda you had to order the front disc brakes but power brakes were an option. I remember driving that beast and even with the discs up front and because of that heavy 383 you really had to push on the pedal to get it to stop in a hurry.

I would use a 67-78 Corvette manual master, 1" bore. RAYBESTOS MC36367

C20 and above brake parts are rarity at auto parts box stores. I'd be calling Wes at classic heartbeat or GMCPaul.

So power brakes seem the way to go for a set up. What is all required to switch to power brakes?

A vacuum source, the booster, the 1 way valve hose coming off of the booster, and ambition.

Re: Where to find a manual mc. 71 chevy c20

ALL disc brake C20's came with power, all disc brake C10's came with power until 1974 when manual became available

ALL C20 power disc brakes used a 1 1/4" master due to larger caliper piston diameter.
All C10 power disc brakes used a 1 1/8" master while the manual versions, 74 and above used 1" bore master.

If you have the large bore C20 calipers you might try a 1 1/8" bore manual master but it may be too hard which I would use a 1" bore for manual.
