Help identifying mirrors
I got these with some parts that I bought. I know they are 71-72 Sport Mirrors. They appear to be GM mirrors but want to confirm so that I can be honest when selling. Wasnt sure if there were some re-pops out there that look like original GM parts. Is there a way to tell? They have never been installed.

Re: Help identifying mirrors
GM to double make sure is there a number and letter at the tops of the glass? If so they are GM units. Send me email and I will send you some pictures of the 50th truck. It got out of paint two weeks ago....

Re: Help identifying mirrors
I know some folks refer to those as sport mirrors, but they are just what GM went to when it got away from the earlier style of a mirror on a stick. The three screws that held it did away with the earlier style that had a retainer on the inside of the door. Essentially, the 71-2 style saved GM some money on parts and labor.
By the way, those look pretty nice.

Re: Help identifying mirrors
every sport mirror I have dealt with have always had the inner stiffener plate with the machined nuts welded on them. Over time just running sheetmetal screws into the door skin they will come loose from the jarring of the door shutting.
And I would say they appear to be GM produced. Quote:
