1969 dually build!!!!! (CLEMSTRUCKSRUS)

1st off this is my first post and I am going to say this seems to be one of the best forums that I have been on really excited about being apart of it. Everyone that helps with this forum just got to say this is awesome! Thanks for such a cool website

2nd off forgive me and my bad spelling and grammar that will be seen in this thread ha

Now for the truck, I bought this truck for my dad for fathers day for 700 bucks it was not running and had no brakes the way we towed it home I had to have a truck with a strap in the front for pulling and a truck in the back for brakes it was about a 8 mile tow and we made it some how before dad got home so we could surprise him ha

Re: 1969 dually build!!!!! (CLEMSTRUCKSRUS)

here are some pictures when we brought it home
we were told it has a 327 but then I soon found out its a 307 with a four speed
I am the third owner the dash says the truck has 91,000 miles the original owner had it parked in his woods for a while then the second owner bought it to sell it so he pulled it out of the woods and now I bought it

here is the first picture it was sitting in front of a gas station when we got it

here is when we got it home

Re: 1969 dually build!!!!! (CLEMSTRUCKSRUS)

Well We don't have the biggest budget are main goal was to get it running good and driving safe

I started on getting it running I did a complete tune up on the engine I replaced the cap, rotor, distributor, plugs, wires, and coil.

Also I added a new fuel filter and drained the tank and added new fuel

I also removed the two barrel carb and did a quick cleaning on that (which really required a lot more cleaning witch was done later on ha)it didn't have the top of the air cleaner so I went out and picked up a Mr.Gasket air cleaner that comes with an adaptor for a 2 barrel

took the valve covers off replaced those gaskets and did a oil change then we were ready for a start up .......

with some starting fluid it started it was rough but no ticks or funny sounds coming from the engine we let it run for about 5 minutes and then we got are first hole in the radiator we found out the radiator was none repairable so we installed a new bigger better one

Here are some pictures of the engine

I agree they do look pretty mean when they have no bed if it was not illegal to drive around like that I would probably keep it like that for a while ha but I think the old man is planning on making a flat bed for it

You've got an expensive new radiator there. Now, get yourself a set of proper 4 core brackets to really hold it in place right. The way you have it wedged down with the smaller 2/3 core brackets isn't too good of a plan. I'd hate to see it get a hole worn in it from the wrong brackets or, even worse, pop loose and get into the fan.

Re: 1969 dually build!!!!! (CLEMSTRUCKSRUS)

we put all new brake lines wheel cylinders and a master cylinder to get her to stop again I took a chance and decided to use the old hardware in the drums until we can afford to buy new hardware

rear brakes I don't have a picture of them all cleaned but everything cleaned up nice

Re: 1969 dually build!!!!! (CLEMSTRUCKSRUS)

the big plan for this truck is to haul my tug a truck around to all the local competitions and fair grounds ..... I plan on swapping out the 307 and dropping a 4bt Cummins in the dually but that's a ways down the road

my tug a truck is a 1977 dodge power wagon I know this is a chevy site but I am just all about mopar and chevy so this will show when I go to tug events how much I like both
