Opinion Which trim ring
I am in the process of converting my 69 stepside from six lug drums to 5 lug discs and I am refinishing a set of stock steel rally wheels to use. I have powdercoated the wheels rally charcoal silver and paint plans for the truck is a dark metallic green. I would like your opinion on which set of trim rings to use.
This is a stock ring This is a deep dish corvette rally ring Thanks Robert |

Re: Opinion Which trim ring
My opinion is the large trim hides the rim. The 1.5in trim opens the wheel up. The wheel looks bigger than it is. You have the right look. 1.5 trim, with the short caps. Nice.

Re: Opinion Which trim ring
I had 6 lug truck rallys and used Astro van trim rings. That made the wheels look really nice! They would fit on your wheels as well and I'd highly recommend them.

Re: Opinion Which trim ring
I voted "stock." I had the deep dish ones and I HATED them. They hide too much of the rim and they accumulate brake dust like a mo fo on the front rotors and it's hard to clean "behind" the trim ring.

Re: Opinion Which trim ring
Can you post a picture of the back of each trim ring?
The Repop ones I have extend past the wheel edge, and hit the bead of the tire. So the will not stay attached.

Re: Opinion Which trim ring
I like the wider rings the best. The more chrome, the better! Nice looking wheels either way.

Re: Opinion Which trim ring
Short ring....I agree that they show off more of the wheel, or as stated above, "the wheel looks bigger than it is". I run later 88 up? trim rings on my ralleys. They are a little more squared on the edges,& give the wheel a more open look. they also show the diff in the back spacing tween the 8 " rear & 6 1/2" front wheels.crazyAL

Re: Opinion Which trim ring
The deep dish look good on 8" wheels, the 1.5" look good on 7" wheels, imo.

Re: Opinion Which trim ring
I don't have a preference on the trim rings (...well, maybe the Corvette style ring...) but I do like the fully chromed center cap.
Mine are painted argent silver at the base. K

I can but I am out of town this week and one pair of the rings are in my storage container. I think I am going to the container this weekend and will post pictures then.

Re: Opinion Which trim ring
I will be converting my 67 from 6 to 5 lug also, Where did you get the 5 lug rally's did you buy them new somewhere?
BTW I like the wide trim, however the other gives a more "stock" apperence if you are going for that look.

No I got them from either Craigs list or Ebay, I don't remember which one. The trim rings and center caps came off ebay.

I ran the deep Corvette Rally trim rings on my old '69 and I loved them, but they were 15 X 8's.
