prospective new truck. opinions,concerns price?

this Is the truck ive been looking at he says it a Cheyenne super but the spid shows custom deluxe and plaid cloth. it does have correct wood grain and came with some nice options however. the driprails and firewall concern me, never know what I might uncover passenger fender and a spot in the bed. Re: prospective new truck. opinions, concerns price?

What does he want it? How does it run? It is a well optioned truck, but it going to extensive rust repair. I would be figuring on a cab swap if it were me. How is the bed and tailgate?

Re: prospective new truck. opinions, concerns price?

It is a Highlander plaid trim truck per the SPID. The door panels were either swapped or had the trim added. The correct highlander trim would be a white panel and armrest with the chrome trim ring. The wood glove box door is just an incorrect sticker. On a Cheyenne Super it is a woodgrain finished insert attached to a chrome bezel that is attached to a painted door. Rust is aregional thing but that looks bad in the expensive places. Torn down engine too. Repaint is probably hiding a lot more. Without overall pictures its hard to tell, but that is rapidly becoming a parts truck from where I sit.

Re: prospective new truck. opinions, concerns price?

Looks like $1000 truck if its all there, maybe $1500 if it was running and driving. Need more pics to say, but it looks pretty rusty.

Did you say he wants $5000? Lol
You can buy a running driving, air bagged truck with no rust for $5000 if you look around.

If it was me, I would pass. If you want a good truck and have the ability, go out west and get a good truck. You"ll save alot in body work alone.

Definitely pass. If you can see that much rust there is 10x as much hidden.

Re: prospective new truck. opinions, concerns price?

Politly pass on it. The trim on the door is added and the glovebox has a sticker that's wrong, definitely a High Lander. The 5k is too much, just like the rust. It's a parts truck

Re: prospective new truck. opinions, concerns price?

As stated, pass! I purchased a short bed in Texas, because the bed was in perfect shape. The cab was bad though. I had rust on the firewall like that, and it went into the heater area, rusting both the inside and outside layers. It also had rust under the lower door hinges. I priced it out, and not including welding and time the panels cost over 1k. I got a rust free cab in perfect shape for 500 delivered.

Re: prospective new truck. opinions, concerns price?

It was in good spirit gasoline. Wife was playing candy crush kids were in bed and I had free time on my hands. Text gets taken wrong sometimes. But I'm pretty dry so even in person I'd probably get taken the wrong way.

The seller of that truck sounds like he'd be a hoot ( in a good way ) to deal with.
