Big difference between flowmaster 40 series and 40 series delta flow???
I have true duals on my TBI 383 and i went with Flowmaster 40 series delta flow mufflers. I was expecting it to be pretty loud and deep but i am sort of disappointed. Its actually pretty tame and quiet and it just doesnt have that deep sound i was looking for. Running long tube headers and no cats. Do you think a switch to a true 40 series muffler would make much of a difference?

Delta flow's have an extra baffle in them to try to cut down on drone. They are also not as loud as a regular 40 series.

I'd like to trade my 40's for the Delta flows..Never heard of them.
Mine droned so much that I put resonators in front of the mufflers to help quit it down. Now after about 8000 miles it seems like they are getting louder..I have stock manifolds. |

Well i can say for a fact that there is absolutely no drone to these mufflers at all. Maybe i should be happy about that and stick with them. LOL

Re: Big difference between flowmaster 40 series and 40 series delta flow???
I had 2.25 40 series on my '86 305 C10 and those were still rather tame. Duals to the rear though, dumps would have been louder.
I had 2.5 40 series on my old '86 Trans Am and those were loud, but echoed a bit due to being a hatchback. I'm going to swap out my 2.5 glasspacks for 3" 40's on my '76 cammed/headers 454 Sierra. 3" just has a lower tone to it that 2.5 will never have. Since I only drive this when I haul a load or start jones-n for the sound of a cammed big block, the louder and more obnoxious the better!
