a few extra opinions before the hacksaw hits NOS parts...
After checking and rechecking I'm 90% sure the pins on the new door handles have to be shortened to function correctly.
Just like to confirm if anybody happens to know before I get to cutting! Thanks --

do you mean just the pin? can you get a picture with both the new and old facing the same way? I'm thinking that they will work as is, but maybe I'm not sure what you are thinking will have to be trimmed.

Basically the plate where the pin starts is the red line. and although it's difficult to see from the pic, when I line them up, the new one would have to be cut at the line(blue arrow) that is formed into the pin, almost as if it was scored for this purpose. cutting it there would make them almost the exact size.

Have you tried installing the NOS one on the truck yet? I would not cut it unless you absolutely had to. You will notice that the latch lever does move a lot before it "pops" the door open.
I would try installing it and just be easy. I have never seen one that needed cut especially NOS. |

I did install it but it wouldn't fully lock. From what I could tell, the plate that the pin pushes against wasn't able to completely move to where it should be because the pin was stopping it. Almost like it was being pressed in half way all the time.

Going to check factory assembly manual and see if it shows anything.

Well in that case, you may have to trim it a little. I would do it in baby steps so you don't take to much off.

I had to cut my handle pin to make it work.

yea, it's as if that scoring was put there for a reason. I wonder if there was another year that used the full length.
Keith, were yours NOS or repops?

I think it's made that way for rear doors on sub and panel. I think they need longer tab. I THINK!

You have to cut for trucks longer for subs, as Tim said
