Truck or Pick-up
So I have a topic that just bothers me. Why do people feel the need to correct me when I call my 71 c-10 a truck? They say I didn't know you drive a truck I thought it was a "pick-up". my wife and I both call it a truck and we both get corrected. is it just the area of the country we live in? the smart A$$ I am say if its not a truck then why does my license plate say commercial truck or if they have farm plates it says farm truck? So I'm just asking what does everyone else call them trucks or pick-ups?

Re: Truck or Pick-up
Either one. I prefer to say truck, but really don't care. If somebody has a problem with you calling it a truck, kindly point them to the hottest country truck song right now by Jason Aldean, titled Night Train. He calls it a "truck" multiple times. And, no. It isn't a semi.
I'm sure you could find half a dozen other country songs that call it a truck, and another half dozen that call it a pickup. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Truck or Pick-up
Semantics and nothing more. I call it "my truck" but when I type it out I say "'72 Chevy pickup truck...."
I do not call an "engine" a "motor." :-) |

Re: Truck or Pick-up
Some of that has to do with where you are in the country too. Truck, pickup, pick-em-up, all the same thing depending on where you are.
Around here you hear both truck and pickup, but I think truck is more prevalent. I call it a truck.

Re: Truck or Pick-up
They are pickup trucks. That's what they are. So,they are pickups and they are trucks. Semis are Semi trucks. They are semis and they are trucks. Some people are stupid. They are people and they are stupid. They are stupid people

my C-10 is a "truck." An "old truck" specifically. I only call it a "pickup" to someone that doesn't know anything about cars/trucks.

Re: Truck or Pick-up
My brother -in-law always corrects me on the motor engine debate. I just send him this info from Pennzoil. HAH! I makes no difference to me. North is engine and South is motor.

Re: Truck or Pick-up
Oh good Lord. It's a pickup truck. Agree with Tim, some people are just dense. Some people just like to argue, about nothing of particular importance. I recommend calling it exactly whatever "they" say it isn't, whenever "they" are around. AND call your engine a motor just to rub it in.

I have always said truck. The number one thing I hear from people is "what year is your truck?" lol. Semantics.

Didn't realize this was an issue...
To me it's no different than Chevy and Chevrolet.
