under cab / bed tank hooked to stock filler neck?

Has anyone put a tank under the cab or bed and hooked it up to the stock fill neck?

I've got a 1951 on an s10 frame. I left the s10 tank in it's original location, under the bed and welded the stock filler neck to the s10 neck so it comes out just behind the cab, low on the box side. Obviously not the stock location but it's the original filler neck.

Re: under cab / bed tank hooked to stock filler neck?

I have been thinking of doing this.
I thought of running the pipe down through the cab floor, to a 90 degree elbow, then back along the top of the frame rail to another 90 degree elbow into the tank.

I would guess galvanized pipe or aluminized muffler pipe so it doesn't rust.
remember they crack gasoline with water, so there would be a rust factor.
I wonder where you could get the pipes beaded so that the hoses at the elbows don't come off.

I am thinking where the small vent tube would be placed for optimum venting would be from the tank, then all the way back up to the filler.
