I'm building my son's 72 cheyenne, he wants to use area behind seat . Would it look out of place to put a folding one in from an earlier year.

If you removed the tank, then putting a different year seat is natural. What's the use of all the space if you can't get to it?
Later model seats are also an idea.

I had a 75 silverado Back then they were the Comp to our cst Had everything thing on it. Anyway the point is it had a folding backof the seat. That seat is not that far off from ours depending on how close to original you want it

The folding bench seats are identical to the fixed seat..even take the same covers. I have a 68 folding seat for my 69 with fixed, but then I also have a pair of factory 69 buckets, with a soon to have 73 cup holder console...hhhhmmmm maybe I need 2 trucks...yeah, that's it Honey...I need 2 trucks for all the parts I have now.....NOT !
