Help locating my family truck!
Hi, I'm new to the forum but have been a big fan of older Chevy trucks since I was a kid. I'm trying to find a truck that was owned by my father and two of my uncles. The truck was sold by my uncle in the early 90's in California City, California. I think the truck may have been sold to somebody in the Lake Los Angeles area.
The truck was a 1969 C10 short bed truck. At the time of the sale, it had a 350/th350 and 4X4. The truck was green with a white stripe and had a under dash ac unit. The truck was originally from Texas and had a rear bumper stamped with East Texas Motor Co, Sulphur Springs, Tx. This bumper was on the truck when it last sold. The truck was originally 2wd and was converted to 4X4 by my uncle. He also converted the rear to leaf springs, some of the old 2wd suspension mounts were still visable. The truck had blue/ yellow Ca plate, lic# Z12 717. I'm very interested in any info that may lead me to this truck, I know it's a long shot! Thanks Posted via Mobile Device |

Won't know until you try man! I've been looking for/keeping an eye open for the M1 Garand rifle my dad used in Korea. Serial number 5043939. CMP doesn't have it in their database and it isn't in the old DCM records either but I keep my eyes peeled.
In case you don't find it, find one like it. |

Good looking truck! I sure hope you find it, but I'm afraid if I owned it, you would have a tough time getting it back.

Do you have the VIN? maybe the DMV in Cal would help you. Not sure but it is worth a shot.

Re: Help locating my family truck!
I wish I had the VIN! Unfortunately, I don't have it and my father and uncles have passed.
A few other notes that might distinguish it; -The 4wd conversion was done with some type of Rough Country transfer case shift mechanism. -The drivers side door was replaced with a yellow door, it was painted to match but probably still shows some yellow somewhere on it. -The truck may have originally had a manual transmission before the 4wd conversion. |

See if you can get the DMV to run the plate in the pic. I know in Texas if a plate number has been reissued it will also show on the return the prior vehicle it was issued to which will include the VIN. Finding that VIN can solve a lot of problems.

Go to the Tax office, and request for your Dads trucks Tax receipt and you should be able to locate it

Re: Help locating my family truck!
I found my old '71 Buick GS Stage 1 convertible by getting the VIN from the local State Farm Insurance office in my hometown. Still had it on file from the 80's!

Re: Help locating my family truck!
I sold one of my cars close to 20 years ago and I had heard rumours it was still around so I described it to a guy at a local machine/race shop and he took me around back and there it was I sold it for $500 and it wanted $5000 to get it back so I turned around and left but it was cool to know it's still alive at least. and hopefully you'll tell the right person about yours and find it as well, good luck
