I'm in East Texas and am looking for some original parts for my truck. Send me a PM if you can sell me the following:

Original valve covers for 1971 307
Original 2 bbl for 1971 307
Alternator brackets for a 1971 307 (both)
Original alternator for 1971 307
Tire tool bag with all tire tools for my truck.

Thats all I need to make my truck totally original!!!
(Well, besides new seat upholstery!)

If no one is forth coming with the alternator brackets, you can get both of them new at the dealer for under 30 bucks.

SURE!

There is the cast iron lower bracket and the flat steel arm that is the upper bracket. Both pieces brand new from dealer are under 30 bucks. Held onto the head by two 3/8 bolts.

I buy several sets per year to put on street rods that I put engines in. They are one of the most easily adapted brackets for short pump setups. Lots of folks see my cars and ask where the brackets came from. No one ever thinks about these 67-72 trucks as a source.

If your dealer parts guy gives you any crap, just come back here and I'll call my buddy and get the GM part numbers for you.

Just got off the phone with my dealership here in Nacogdoches and he says that they were discontinued. No help from him.

I just pulled the intake and 2 bbl off my 1970 truck that has a 1968 (by the numbers) 307 engine. I'm sure it needs to be rebuilt, but it did run before I took it off. Does anyone know if it's the same for the 71? Also I have no idea what its worth. I'm sure I could make you a deal

Nope, its going to be a little different. My carb has an electric selinoid that keeps the trottle level. Also has auto choke.

i might have the alternator bracket ill check and let you know. My 307 is from my 69 would there be any differences? i know the carb is wrong.

When did they start making the 307? I thought it was in 1970.

dont know but i think they quit in 72. changed to the 305

It was replaced with the 305

I have a clapped out 307 with the parts you need, but I'm not sure on the year. I'll look to see if it has the solenoid. I think it does............Zoomy

68 was the first year for the 307 replaced the 283

Thanks for the part numbers.. They are a lot cheaper than I have found with other suppliers. I have a carb from NAPA, it is the exact same except that it is stamped different and the last part number is a little different. Unfortunately, I gave the original carb to NAPA as core charge--dumb mistake from my youth. I would like to get the original carb--manufactured in Baytown,TX, but it is probobaly impossible. I also have the original valve covers, but it looks like someone has taken a hammer to them. I bought my truck from the original owner who had a stroke and could no longer drive it. He had the valve covers replaced with horrible chrome ones that are now rusty and put a long water pump and moved the alternator to the passenger's side. These are the only molestations on the ENTIRE truck that has 80,000 original miles, so you can see why I want to make it back to as original as possible. I also need a tire tool bag with the tools in it.

The 307 I have is a '70. It's all there including carb, air cleaner, air pump, injector exhaust manifolds, jack & handle, jack hold own spring, alternator & both brackets, rocker covers, points distributor. I don't know if they changed anything from '70 to '71 on the engine though.............Zoomy
