On one of my valve covers there is the oil hole and what looks to be a breater hole. On the other valve cover there is also a breather hole. Which side should they be installed on?

This is for a 350 in a 68 chevy,

My blazer had the 2 hole cover on the drivers side with the oil filler hole in the rear, front hole had the pcv valve running to the base of the carb. Pass side had the 1 hole coverwith the hole in the rear hooked up to the air cleaner...

are you using a stock air cleaner w/pcv ?

No I am not. I have a pcv valve for it with hose all ready to be connected to the carb.

If you don't have a hose to the air cleaner, I would put the breather in the rear of pass side cover and the rest as 72 custom camper said

Hooking the non PCV hose to the air filter has advantages...the air sucked into your crank case will be cleaner, if your getting blow by, then the oil will get sucked into the carb and burned instead of down the side of your pretty engine and chrome valve covers (if aplicable) and keep it off your manifolds/headers.
This is also how some states want to see it run for your state inspection...even if they don't do emissions testing.
However, the breather will work fine, and gets the job done that it needs to do.

I switched the 2-holer to the passenger side (oil hole to the front) on my Nova so it would be easier to get to the oil hole.

You can always just pull out the breather or PCV to add oil.....i just remove the PCV on my truck to fill her up with fresh Valvoline...

That's exactly how my new 350 is set up and, as I recall, how most of them are set up. If you swapt them around, the oil fill is located under the A/C compressor.
