92 burb tranny problems
Last night I lost reverse and it doesn't shift till 5 grand going thru 1st and 2nd and it never shifts into overdrive. First does this sound like it needs a major rebuild and also what tranny is in a 92 burb?

Ouch, sounds like the trany shot. Loss of reverse is usually the indicator of a failed 700R4. An automatic 4speed OD tranny is a 700R4. Check the oil pan. If it mostly square you have the 700R4.
There could be some simple things to check. Ensure the TV cable at the throttle is properly set. If it is too tight the tranny wont shift. If the cable is broke the tranny wont shift either. The TV cable is the life of the tranny. I paid $1100 for my rebuild. Use some of the best parts available and good for up to 450 HP. Any good rebuiild with upgrade parts should start about $700+. Good luck. |

92 Should be a 4L60 is it's a half and 4L80 if it's a 3/4. Those years the FI ECM also controls the transmission. Bad ECM will cause them to shift bad. Should still have reverse and drive and usualy with a bad ECM it will try to start in 2nd gear.
Sounds like you lost the Sprag for the forward drive drum When that happens on a TH400 or TH350 you usualy find parts of the sprag in the pan. Not sure it that is also going to happen on the 4l's
