Can I pull the pan without pulling the motor?
I need to replace the rear main on my 87 4x4 diesel burb, anybody know if I can get the pan off without pulling the motor? I also need to do the rear main on my dad's 82 diesel 2 wheel drive pickup, anybody done one of those also?

You can do it on a 4X2. http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/drivetrain/oil_pump.htm
I'm not so sure on a 4X4. |

Re: Can I pull the pan without pulling the motor?
I had plenty of room under my K25 to pull the pan on my 400sb. Not sure on a 6.2L.

Not sure on the diesel. But on a 350 4x4, its no problem.

Re: Can I pull the pan without pulling the motor?
Easy peezy lemon squeezey! Had to pull mine off 2 different motors in the se truck. Get a new gasket for it. Go with a one peace pan gasket, now the rear main is another story. It will take more time and I'm not sure if it's the same as a 350 but u pull the main cap then get a small wood dowel and hammer and tap the top half out. Make sure u pay attention to witch side is facing out. Then do it on your main cap and torque it back down then your hood to go!
