casting numbers

ok what is the easiest way to get to block casting numbers with the motor in the truck??? lol motor is a "350 4 bolt" the po said the previous from him said that it was.... it has a 327 intake sooooo I wanna know you know lol

Right front of the engine on the deck of the block in front of the head should be some numbers stamped. Those will tell you what the engine is. If you need the numbers on the rear of the block use a cell phone camera to sneak back there and take them.

Ive always had plenty of room to climb in the engine bay and peek behind the cylinder head. It does help to take a wire brush and degreaser to the area first. You can tape a piece of paper down in there and rub it with a pencil as well. Good luck.

Use a flashlight and a big mirror. Shine the light into the mirror and angle it behind the head.
Numbers on the front pad will tell you where and when the motor was built and what it was in originally.
