Hood latch question?

The hood on my "70 won't latch all the way down,stays up a bit.Do these have a two stage latch?(did lube it)

Can you push down a bit or is it bottomed out? The adjusters on the core support could be too high or if it has a spring action the center adjustable pin on the hood could need to be adjusted in.

In the pic where it's up a bit I can push down and there is spring tension pushing it back up.

Have you check the hood side of the latch to see if it can be adjusted to move away from the support portion? making a adjustment would bring the hood closer in when it shuts. The spring adjustment is just for raising the hood up after the release is pulled. So you dont need much tension on it.

I would start with removing the upper part from the hood. Now adjust the hood to sit where you want it with the stops on the support. Then reinstall the upper part and adjust the pin until it latches with just a little play up and down when latched.
