Went to the wrecking yard - part 1
Some of the goodies I found... and questions.
- Is this a factory fan shroud? - Which air cleaner housing is correct? - Have you ever seen these b/u lights? All the other burbs I've seen have flat lenses but these are bullet shaped. |

Re: Went to the wrecking yard - part 1
Thx guys, the shroud surprised me because I thought they would have been made of metal back then. I also thought the left air cleaner was correct but the snorkel hole seems smaller than you would think. It's even smaller than than a 2 barrel carb throat.
Has anyone ever seen these back up lights before? The script on them reads GUIDE F1A 55. I believe the 55 indicates the first year the lenses were used in production. |

Re: Went to the wrecking yard - part 1
ok, that is showing up as the front park lamp for a 55 chevy truck
is the air cleaner from a 6 cylinder ? at some point they switched from the oil bath to that style. the bases should interchange though. here is a correct original 65 engine compartment:

So, on those lenses, were they used as b/u lenses on our burbs or do you think someone swapped them over? The housings have the same markings, pics attached. Also has a wedged rubber base. The holes line up with the factory sheet metal on the burb. Jason |

Re: Went to the wrecking yard - part 1
I think you have the correct BU light bases and the rubber wedges. It just appears that someone has changed the original lenses for the front turn signal lenses for the '55-'59 trucks.
