Thats just a vacuum gauge. I had a 77 Monte Carlo that had one, factory installed. Didn't look like that, but worked the same way.

Thats exactly what i was going to say. Spend your money else where or buy a stock looking one and put in there. To get better milage just keep your foot out of it, thats all that gauge is going to tell you.

I drove an '86? Caprice once with a "fuel economy" guage it in. It was the cheesiest thing i had ever seen. The guage had no numbers and was hooked directly up to the gas pedal
![]() At idle it would be pegged on the highest gas mileage, hehe.

Having a large vacuum gauge in your face is a good way to "train" yourself how to get the best mileage out of your vehicle. The thing is if you keep one of our trucks in the best mileage part of the guage, little ole ladies using walkers will be passing you flipping you off...lol

I have a fuel milage gauge, It's called a Fuel Tach. Looks like it would fit in the center tach hole on the dash. I bought it for a big rig. It has flow sensores that hook into the fuel line, and a electronic speed sensor that you run off the speedo cable. You set it up, figure out you fuel consumption and then calibrate it. It also has a small digital read out. Looks cool, but I never got around to running it.

Got it at a Kenworth dealership years ago. They had about 50 of them for $25 each so I grabed one. This one does not use vacume at all. I'll take a pic of it and post it later on.

I used to call those gauges 'fun meters'. Just tried to keep them as low as possible - needle pegged=no fun.
