Sound Deading Question

Has anyone tried the sound deading materials offered on lmc? I'm wondering if it worked?

Re: Sound Deading Question

Before you do anything, you should take a look at this:
http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/

It debunks a lot of myth and (sub)urban legend.

This is timely for me. Great read and I'm changing directions after reading this.
Thanks,

Re: Sound Deading Question

I just finished 50 sq. feet of Fatmat, followed by 50 sq feet of 1 lb/square foot MLV with closed cell foam backing. Probably the best $300 I've spent.

Did the 50 sp ft cover everything? I'm thinking about buying some deadner also.
I want to do both doors and the bottom of cab along with the back wall of the cab since I have the gas tank out.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I've got my Fatmat, where are you sourcing your MLV? I would like to find it locally and avoid the freight charges.

I got it from a supplier here on this forum, about a year ago. Do a search and see if you can find an older thread. The stuff is suppose to be dynamat with a different name on it.

Re: Sound Deading Question

you can get it from Amazon. I did mine with 50sq ft of fatmat. Just keep in mind it doesn't have to cover absolutely everything. My research online found that you just need to cover major areas, so don't go absolutely end to end. It isn't necessary.

Fatmat then Reflectix with Gorilla tape. Gorilla tape isn't pretty, but I didn't need to spray adhesive anything, and you would never know its there without lifting the carpet.

Nope. Don't like stuff made in China and all of that. I used Fatmat. Works pretty good.

Re: Sound Deading Question

I got my MLV from a place in California called Super Soundproofing. It was actually 45 square feet for 238 shipped to Oregon. The Fatmat came from Amazon. I was able to cover the entire cab and the gas tank with about a foot to spare.
