worth the trouble to run x pipe on non performance application??

For all the extra $$$ I'd have to spend at an exhaust shop on labor in pipe bending/labor to run a bassani x pipe I have laying around.

My truck has a gm crate motor, I'm guessing in the 260-275hp range

I know its much simpler to run it straight back through the carrier with NO x pipe

Just dont wanna go to a lot of $$ /trouble if the x won't be worth it

Any input would be great.

I've never run an x-pipe on anything.

Re: worth the trouble to run x pipe on non performance application??

X-pipes and cross overs are beneficial on sound and balance. The performance benefit is generally only valuable above say ~4000ish rpm. X-pipes like headers help scavenge the cylinders at upper rpms. They are cool looking, but few of us really need x-pipes. A simple crossover pipe will help tame the exhaust note and is more likely what you want.

Re: worth the trouble to run x pipe on non performance application??

Most of the shops around here say to just run an H pipe to balance the sound.
