My 1985 GMC sierra classic wont start

Hey guys, since the 1960 deal fell through, i decided to go to a slightly more modern truck, and got myself into an '85 GMC sierra classic with a 350 and a 700R4 transmission. This was a great buy until it stopped starting, and im not totally sure why. I took my starter and alternator out and had them checked at advanced auto (both tested fine), and i got my battery tested as well, and it was fully charged and in good condition. Would this be an ignition switch? When i put everything back in, i heard the starter try, and it cut out immidiately, and i lost power to the cab. Any ideas?

What you want to do is follow your main power wires from the battery to the starter and up to the distribution block on the firewall then to the fuse block connector you can see on the firewall on the engine bay side. make sure everything is tight, check for 12v on both sides of the distribution block and triple check the driver side of the distribution block when your power cuts out the cab and report back

Check Park-Neutral (P/N) switch in your column - try starting in neutral position and wiggle gear selector a bit. If it fires up you have a simple job of R&R the switch.

hey guys, got it running finally. It turned out to be a bad solenoid in the original starter, so i went ahead and replaced the whole starter assembly. I figured if the solenoid was going out, chances were the motor was on the way out too.
