Another SMC to BBC question, engine mounts

Sorry, I've asked a lot of questions recently, but that's what it's all about, yes?

I just looked at a 1973 C-30 that has a new 454 in it, the guy wants to sell the whole truck which is fine with me seeing I can scrap the truck and recover some cash after I pull out the engine.
Question is, can I unbolt the engine mount stands from the 73 and use those and the BBC clam shells in my 71 C10 along with the 454?
Also, and it was 20 years ago so I don't recall exactly what I did at the time, but I thought when I swapped a small block to a big block in a 72 shortbed 20 years ago, all I did was bolt the SB mount pads to the BB and bolt it in...I don't remember changing any stands or mounts?

Thanks again for the replies

Re: Another SMC to BBC question, engine mounts

I am gonna do the same thing [sorta] twice in the next couple of builds. Go to the home portion of the site on the upper left hand corner of the page then click on tech tips then click on our year trucks then go down to a post about big block mounts. There is a post on converting small block to big block mounts. There is also a post on converting to a newer type saddle mount that is my plan I think. You will have to look through there cause I don't remember the titles to those two post, sorry but they are in the tech tips. If not for sure check into the FAQ section as well there is also more priceless info in there as well

I went and looked for you, take a look at post number 1 and then 10 on the 5th page of the FAQ of truck tech tips for 67-72. By 1 and 10 I mean the first and tenth ones on the pages. Good luck going "big". Jim

Re: Another SMC to BBC question, engine mounts

Cool, thanks for the info, From reading that, it looks like the reason for the BB stands is only for exhaust manifold clearance?
The mod looks easy to the newer stands, so I'd probably just go that route.
Thanks again
