Drop Time guys!..?

Alright guys, time to drop the C10!

Question: Will a typical 4/6 drop work without me having to put a half "C" notch in the frame? I'm rolling on 20's with front 275x45x20 Rear 295x45x20....

Still looking for a good price on a 4/6 drop to..?..

Do I need new spindles in the front or can I just go drop springs all the way around?

While I can only go off what I've read so far as I'm trying to decide how I'm going to do the suspension on my truck, I can give this advice.

As far as the c-notch I don't think it necessary but not a bad idea. Especially if you are planning on putting stuff in the bed.

From what I've seen, the best price while still retaining good quality and ride is the ECE kit. I spoke to Stan the other day and he was very helpful. A lot of guys on the board run this setup and praise it. If I decide to "skimp" on my suspension I will definitely be going with their kit. I'm also looking into a Porterbuilt and/or Ridetech suspension which appears to get up there in price quick. However its worth it. I just have to talk the family into forgoing Christmas, birthdays and vacations next year.

To do it right, you will need spindles.

Just going off of my own experiance.

You will probably be fine in the rear with new lowered springs.

For the front. Id recommend going with drop spindles and a 2" drop spring. I dont think you can buy a 4" drop spring, and I know you dont want to cut that much out of a spring to get 4"

I have a 4" 6" spring only drop. Its not bad but certainly not the best way to do it.
Spindles and a c notch are next on the suspenson to do list.

If you do all spring lowering in the front most likely it will throw the camber off may not be by much but will wear the inside tread of your tires off in no time

I agree with Chevyman. All of the drops I've done have been spindles and 2" springs. Makes setting the alignment a lot easier.

For the record, I wouldn't consider the full kit ECE "skimping".

"Skimping", among other things, would be heating the coils. That would definitely be a cheaper option than Porterbuilt.
And, in my book, *that* would be "skimping".

Then again, just like takin' a big whack to get the boxes from Porterbuilt,
if that's what someone wants to do......

I referred to the term "skimping" since its by far the least expensive one I'm looking at. I've heard nothing but great things about the kit.

The current spring kit that came with the truck is compressed stock springs. Couldn't imagine how well it rides.

Awesome guys! Thanks so much! For sure on the info that 4/6 coils; does work, just not the best way. So, that being said I'll look deeper into the pocket book and make the decision. lol Once the drop happens, I'll for sure up load a few pictures for you guys!

It's quoted as a 4.5/6

2.5" from spindles and 2" from springs out front.
6" from springs in the back.

The whole kit + trailing arms.

N c-notch. Don't need it. And I haven't cut the bumpers in the back yet. No need yet. No problem over bumps, but no big loads in her yet, either.

Question still remains on: With 20"s.. will either way on the 4/6 (spindles or only coils) affect me on simple driving or problems I need to look out for?

I don't know about going the whole way with coils in the front....Never done it that way.

But here's an older pic with my suspension and wheel stats. No problems after I did the spacers in the rear.
But that was a back spacing issue with the early Boss 338's....Let's not start that one again.
