Lets see your rearend

Sounds like a good topic and one never done before. On a previous post we were discussing dealer vs factory rear bumpers.
How about we start a thread with everyones rear bumper.
Most be 100's of different styles and unique versions

heres one, a 4 foot extendable bumper

here is mine, I have seen a few like these on various trucks...chromed and painted. mine was painted grey like the front bumper, and the p/o added a pintle hitch. mine is rusted beyond repair.

Generic chrome step bumper.....ugly but strong! Took a direct hit from a Toyota pickup and it barley bent.....muffed up the yota pretty bad though, lol.

Here is mine 4" black pipe welded to 1/4"X4X4 angle welded to the frame. The holes in the bumper are for steps that were used when it carried a camper.

Funny story relating to bumpers. I used to have the standard big old 300+ pound bumper these trucks came with. One day while i was junk yarding i found a good condition step bumper to replace the beast with. After torching the old one off and making custom brackets i put the new one on. No being able to pitch the old one on the trash i found a nice set of bushes to ditch it in. Well low and behold while my son and his friends are going to guitar lessons they find the old beast. Always thinking of dad my son remembers were it is and tells me that he found this great bumper for the truck that he was going to bring home but was to heavy. After prying the secret location from him i gladly thanked him for not being a bit stronger. Would hate to get rid of the same thing twice.

Blue_71,
Thanks for the good info.
I'm wanting to do a resto on it, and if it's not original, I'll just go to the chrome "sporty style" original, and toss the step bumper.
Again, thanks for the info!

boraxman,
About that ECE Hide-a-hitch . . . . .
Would I have to drill any holes in my frame on a 72 4x4 3/4 ton?
Is it prety much a easy install?
Thanks!

Darren
