The pictures are still a little dark. I think that I must need new batteries in my camera or something. WES

Looks nice!

Definately will be prettier than mine... I'll just have to stick with bigger!

Dang truck will have a dry weight of around 5000 or 6000 lbs, my scout meets the 5000 figure and this is bigger, I've heard that it's easy to get them to 6000 lbs for normal driving. Figure with a trailer and/or a load I'll need at least 3/4 ton axles under the thing.

Expect it to drive/ride like a tank too.

You going to paint your's that orange color of the one in the pic? or?

Definately looks like it's coming along!

What motor/tranny etc combo is it getting?

I am painting it Cadillac White Diamond, with ghost pearl blue flames highlighted with canndy red pearl. Then my logo on the side in candy ruby and black.
The engine will be a big block 396 and tranny will be a 700R4. It is also going to get front and rear sway bars and a 4X6 drop. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Oh my, sounds like it will be a very nice truck! I like the sound of that paint scheme too.

I like the stock look, but never seen a panel dropped either, so don't know about that...

I'm also used to living in areas where the dropp can be a bad thing for the vehicle (IE, ruts in roads etc). Mine is expected to "grow" 4-6" to the stock IH 3/4 4x4 height... equivelent to a 67-72 with 4-6" lift.

theoretically, could you get a suburban and weld the windows and third door flat and shut and have a panel?

You could have a panel, but I think it'd be longer than the factory panels.

In my case, I actually have second row doors, complete with roll down windows, even though it's a panel truck, just how they were done in those years for IH. The older ones actually had solid second row doors with no windows.

I think a converted suburban would be a neat panel conversion, but I think you could tell it wasn't originally a panel if you didn't cut some length on it. I don't know for sure, but I think the panels are a little shorter.

Could leave the third door and have a neat, useful, design that could really throw people off though.

The 67-70 Panels are the exact same length as the Suburbans are. You could weld some flat sheet metal in place, but it would take some work. I have seen lots harder stuff done by other board members here. But there is another difference, and that is on the inside of the truck. The cargo area of the panel goes all the way to the back of the front seats. If you don't mind the inside differences, you could get the outside to look like one. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com
