Thanks. That was my first small block build and I'm pretty happy with it for the most part. I'm still undecided whether to build a 383 or Throw a LS in it for next summer. Just trying to find the most economical way to 500hp with a 200 shot of juice.

A basic rebuild with some 781 or 049 oval port heads, proper cam to match heads, RPM Edelbrock airgap intake, and headers will get you to the 500hp mark ($2000 bucks or less). Plus it will have tire frying torque just off of idle for days! Spring for $1000 more and you could build a 496! Always my vote if doing a 454 rebuild. |
