Re: 400 turbo column shift linkage

Just an FYI, for the V-8 there were two separate TH/400 cloumn shift linkage setups. One is the standard small block with Th/350 & 400 setup with the second setup being for the big block with Th/400. Mel

Re: 400 turbo column shift linkage

I might be wrong but those look to be different due to the different frame rail size between 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton. I am often wrong but the lower one looks like it would not fit in a 1/2 ton frame rail. Both of my 1/2 tons have the upper style and both were factory small blocks. HMMM as I scratch my head.

Re: 400 turbo column shift linkage

Both setups Mel posted are for 2wd's doesn't matter 1/2 or 3/4, the top set is the most common one for a turbo 400, lower set is the for th350. I personally have never seen the upper set on a th350 from factory

That makes sense. I only own 4wd's. You are right and I am wrong.

Is that because TH400 equipped trucks were all Big Block from the factory?

Re: 400 turbo column shift linkage

All TH400 equipped trucks were not necessarily big block trucks. But all automatic equipped big block trucks used TH400 trans AFAIK.

Re: 400 turbo column shift linkage

The question I have is, can I use the TH350 style linkage with a big block? If not, what will be the hang up?

Re: 400 turbo column shift linkage

Can I ask I have heard that the shift linkages on the 67-72 trucks will work on a 60-66 truck but I'm not sure.

I'm going from a powerglide in my 65 c10 to a th350 an wondering if this would work?
