Brake Booster Question
I'm converting my 72 GMC Pickup to Power Brakes. I was just wondering where would be the best place to run my booster vacuum hose to. The Carb or intake. Whats your thoughts. Thanks.

Re: Brake Booster Question
Depending upon your application, there will be a pipe plug either in the back of the carb in the center at the base, just above the throttle plates. Also if you look on the manifold behind that spot I just told you to look, a couple inches back from the carb there should be a pipe plug there as well. Both of those have what is known as a manifold vacuum source. either one of those places will be fine to run the booster for your truck. The factory put the hose in the back of the carb on all of the applications I am aware of. Jim

Re: Brake Booster Question
I ran mine to the fitting on the back of the carb (Edelbrock 1406). Some people use the vacuum source on the backside of the intake, t-eed off with the transmission vacuum, but I read that the booster should have a dedicated source.

Re: Brake Booster Question
Not sure of when the change was made, but my 69 was teed to the intake along with the trans and A/C vacuum lines. The 71s and 72s I've seen were to rear of the carb base.

Re: Brake Booster Question
I really appreciate the input. I think it will work best to come right out of the back of the carb so it will have it's own source, plus it's a straight shot to the booster.
