'58 Chevy apache 32
I have recently started working on my 58 apache. It has a 350 with a four speed. How can i tell what year model 350 is in the truck? Are all the chevy 350 bolt patterns the same for transmission mount?
This is my first project. |

On the engine in front of the passenger head is a flat pad with the engine number followed by 2 or three letters. Those letters correspond to a specific application by vehicle, carb and transmission. Find an online list and you are set, they are common I have used them on the 350s in my truck and car. On the top of the block behind the driver head is the block casing number and a date code. That will help too and helps identify if it is a 2 or 4 bolt main block.
All small blocks have the same bellhousing bolt pattern up to 91 (I think, someone with knowledge of the newer engines can chime in). Transmission to bellhousing for manual trannies is the same too.

Re: '58 Chevy apache 32
The guy I got this from said it might need a wiring harness. He thought somebody took it out.

Re: '58 Chevy apache 32
You can but the engine harness and front lighting/horn harnesses separatly IF the underdash stuff is still OK. But after 50 plus years the wires and connections get very brittle....
