Re: 1948 Chevy project
They are 8" wide rims with 255/40/20 on front and 275/40/20 on rear and 10" wide. Not for everyone but I really liked them. Not to mention I really want to drive this daily when done.

Re: 1948 Chevy project
trucks coming along nicely..wheels look good as well..I was just wondering about your fronts. .I see from your tire size of 255/40 that your fronts are 28" tall and 10" wide...do you have any rubbing issues while turning lock 2 lock?...I am also wanting 28" front and back on mine and wanted my fronts as wide as I can squeeze in there. .my rears are going to be even wider...and keep my ride height at about 5-5 1/2" under running boards..

Re: 1948 Chevy project
Truck looks fantastic. Similar firewall and engine setup to mine. Radiator and fan might be tight like mine was.

Yes that is what I was wondering. Figured I may have to run a pusher fan.

Re: 1948 Chevy project
More progress. Front end bolted on. Starting to look like a truck again. Still have to adjust the front end to be about 1-2" up more and I think it will be there.

Interior and firewall already painted. Close to the blue you see on outside.

Re: 1948 Chevy project

Re: 1948 Chevy project
Thanks for the info. I added 1.25” to my M2 crossmember, so it’s not as low. I trimmed the hats, so they’re basically level with the frame. Anyhow, I haven’t decided on the rear yet. I probably need to get things setting at ride height before I make any decisions. I see you did an axle flip and parabolic kit. Off-hand, I’m looking into Jeep or even Ranger leaf springs for the rear, but like I said, I need to get the front ride height established first.
I’ll be watching your build. Chris. |

Re: 1948 Chevy project
Thanks for the quick reply with pictures! That looks great - did you have to use a double joint at the rack end? Is that a rag joint at the end of the column, too? I'm close to this point on my truck and yours looks like it worked out really well.

Re: 1948 Chevy project
Yes swivel joint at both ends worked out well.
