gas guage issues
not sure if my problem is in my sending unit or guage or what. putting this truck together and working on getting my guages to work. hooked up sending unit wire and when i turned on key my guage moves like its tryin to work but its in the wrong field of marks. its over around 3 oclockish. and when i turn my key off it stays in that area. any help appreciated. thanx, rich

This is a common problem with our trucks and it means that the fuel gauge is getting power
but the ground side is open. Test it like this. 1. pull the tan wire off the fuse panel and connect a wire there that is ground good. The gauge should read Empty. 2. If it does then reconnect the tan wire and pull it off at the fuel sender and ground it. Should read empty. If it does then the sender is open or the fuel tank is not grounded well. If it reads at the 3:00 position then the tan wire may be open or the sender might be bad or the tank may not be grounded to the frame. You can test the sender and tank grounds with a multimeter but I'd bet there's a bad ground somewhere. VV
