Timing tab

My balancer does not have a timing tab on it can I just bolt one on or what?

All the balancer should have is a timing mark, which is a notch cut out of it. The timing tab is what is mounted on the timing chain cover.

Yes, but you need to know if you have a 6" or an 8" balancer.

I am not sure which year had what, but some balancers had the mark at the 12 0' clock position at TDC, while others have it at the 2 o'clock position at TDC.
