Latest Progress
Here is the latest motor progress. I have some braided hoses to install, and I have my wire looms on their way.
Any ideas out there on what I can add, Besides the obvious 502 that I wish I had!!!!!!

Thanks for the compliments, it makes it all worth it!! Has anyone painted their vacuum booster before?? Would it look good orange, or would it be too much??
Tall or short K&N??

I think if you paint the brake booster it should finish off the engine compartment nicely. Looks really great.

that is gorgeous, if it were mine id skip the braided hoses also, and i think the skinny tall k&n's are cool, a nice change from those real wide and like 3-4 inch tall deals....

Looks great. Neat and clean. I would change out the red heater hoses to black to match the other hoses, the smallest K&N filter I would put is the 14x4 . The best way to keep it clean is never let it get dirty..... Here is a pic of mine.

I think it looks really good. For suggestions, I would loose the red hose, and I would not paint "just" the booster.
What happens when you use hose other than black is it draws attention to the hose. Most hoses are hard to route so they look neat, so you don't want to draw attention to them. Use black hoses and let them blend in. It's just my opinion, but since you asked, I wouldn't go with braided hose either. The same thing goes for painting the booster.Unless you are going to paint everything else body color, it will just make it stick out, rather than blend in...

I am going to take your advice and get the black hoses today, and just add a little more chrome. Does anyone sell a chrome or polished radiator support piece? I think that one would look cool on top of the radiator..

I'd go with the 14" air cleaner, like WHYBYNU said. Let it breathe!

Get rid of the red hoses, paint the booster with black crinkle, replace air cleaner with a black crinkle or bead blast it and paint it too. ---sorry, I don't like chrome air cleaners!! Get your local heat and air contractor to fabricate a 24 gauge stainless top radiator support (not that hard) and scuff it to look like brushed stainless-(3M purple pad) This looks much classier than chrome and it won't rust in six months. if you had the money i would go get some coolflex hoses, but they are very pricey, other than that i would leave it like it is
maybe another carb

The carb is a new Holley 600. What would you recommend instead??
Are you talking wrinkle finish powder, or do they make it in rattle can???

Available most part and paint shops in spray can-even Wallymart sometimes. If all else fails JCW has it.
I didn't say anything about your carb--although personally I don't think you can beat the original Quadrajet--it will breath far more cfm than the 600.

I agree on the carb. My Quadrajet was better than the Holly I have on there now...
