Funky wiper ?
Ok my project crew cab is throwing me for a loop. I bought the truck with some mods so not sure we're to start. I do no it's a 1984. Old owner put 91 suburban clip. Now I'm not sure if it's factory column or not. What's hopping is the washer fluids come on when wipers come on. I haven't turned them on till now. Iv been Workin on drop in it and cutting notching frame, and it's a project so it wasn't a big concern. We'll I want to drive it and it's now raining. Problem. Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Funky wiper ?
I had a similar problem on my '78. The washer pump was integrated onto the wiper motor via some crazy linkage and servo and the servo took a dump and the pump actuated every time the wipers were on. I ended up getting a wiper reservoir with integrated pump. Much better setup anyways.

Re: Funky wiper ?
Your being lazy.
It may have come in 80's trucks or it may not have. I really have no idea. Go pop your hood and look at your wiper motor. It will either have a washer hose coming off of it or it won't. Not to be a jerk but I'm not a parts man.

Re: Funky wiper ?
My '83 already has a pump on the reservoir and and it still routes through the washer motor. Mine also, occasionally, will squirt while the wiper's operate. I notice it most in cold weather. I take it as a quirk of my truck and I just roll with it. My wipers have a personality all of their own. They always work when I flick the switch, but they will also randomly wipe at times. I can be driving down the road or it can be parked and the keys in my pocket, it waves at me.

Re: Funky wiper ?
Mine did the same thing so I just drained the washer fluid and went like that for a bit. The problem is the wipers will over heat and shut down. I found this out in a rain storm. Oreilly's has them for a pretty good price and it was 20 minutes changing the entire wiper motor assembly.

Re: Funky wiper ?
If the pump is on the wiper motor like the motors from the 70's NAPA now sells a great replacement pump,It looks like the old replacements that still did the squirt squirt squirt but these are electric not run off of the motor gear assb. so they shoot a solid stream and of course shut off automatically and the best part is they bolt on in the same location and look factory for $35.00.
