Led headlights
Has anyone installed Harley's Daymaker headlights? They make a 7" light and the only concern would be enough room behind the bezel. I have not test fitted yet. They have a 50,000 bulb life and put out way more light then a halogen or most HIDs. I course the best part is they do not tax the charging system.
I was going to install a set of chrome ones in my truck if it works. |

Re: Led headlights
They look great as long as you're behind the light, but what about the blinded driver coming towards you?

Re: Led headlights
They don't blind oncoming traffic. Are they bright? Sure but not a scattered hid blinding everything light. These are dot lights and really brighten the road. Worth every penny to me.. Not to mention they look cool! I installed tem on my Harley as well as my jeep as they work tht good. Figured next step would be to install them in the c10

Re: Led headlights
I like bright lights but $800 for headlights is pretty steep. I'd like to see what they look like on a truck. Not sure if they will be cool or look like some weird star trek borg thing.

Re: Led headlights
I think you can find them on ebay cheaper but still cost more than I want to spend
the H4 conversion works good for me

Re: Led headlights
I was reading an article recently on LED lights. It brought up a good point.
The stumbling block to LED headlights is that they don't really produce any heat. Therefore, during inclement weather, ice builds up on them whereas on an incandescent, the heat keeps them melted clear.

Re: Led headlights
I remember from my years-ago motorcycle work that the aiming point and lens characteristics of automotive vs. motorcycle headlamps were different. I ran a small auto headlamp in a custom (Bates) shell, and it never did 'work' right- kind of useless at night- bad cut-off and dispersion. Conversely, I put a motorcycle halogen headlamp assembly in one of my foglight spots on my old Benz diesel, and it is aimed way too high, and can't be adjusted down any further. I've got some older halogen insert headlamps (7") for the truck- they look like Lucas-style and are automotive. I'm pretty leery of mixing bike and automotive stuff- however, YMMV.
