Re: Cutting a little off a long bed

There are some pics here on the board somewhere of this ... The proportions look a little off to me. Im sure someone will have a pic and post it up.

Look at the longbeds only thread, might change your mind about the look.

Re: Cutting a little off a long bed

I've never seen just shortening the rear of the box but many here have converted from long to short bed. Member chevy88 has a good write-up
on how he did it HERE. Start reading at post #30

Oh, and Welcome to the board!

Re: Cutting a little off a long bed

I was hellbent on chopping my bed into a shortie, but after seeing some sexy long beds i've no doubt changed my mind. It seems like the wheel/tire/drop combo is harder to get "just right" than a swb, but when you do, it really stands out! I think this whole short bed craze is a passing fad. In 25 years Guys might even be adding length to all the chopped trucks. Who knows? Haha but hey. Your truck, your opinion. Either way this body style still looks amazing.

Re: Cutting a little off a long bed

Your truck isn't too long. It looks better than one with it's tail end chopped off.

Re: Cutting a little off a long bed

Don't know if I want to cut it yet. Just want to see if anyone has done it and to see what it looks like. It just seem like the bed sticks out the back too far.

LWB trucks are sexier than short's if U don't believe me ask anybody who has a LWB truck, they will tell U the same!
They ride better to.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Cool Re: Cutting a little off a long bed

Another LWB thought.

People want cut a factory dash to install a radio but will cut the body off the frame and whatever else they can figure out to cut. Drop it shave it!
Just saying...don't cut it. Drive it!

Re: Cutting a little off a long bed

As said it messes up the proportions if you only cut off the rear. Ford did some like this years ago. Seems like it was for those who needed a truck slide in camper but didn't need the full length bed or something like that.
Post up a pic of your truck and ask someone to photoshop it for you. You can see just what it will look like.

Re: Cutting a little off a long bed

Sometimes it's best to just get used to what you're looking at. GM designers actually did a knock-out job on everything about these trucks, including the proportions. That's why they are on their 5th decade of people loving them. And,people seem to love the design more now than ever

This is why I like the LWB so much better!

Everyone has are wants a SWB!

I on the other hand would rather have my LWB!
