Fog Light Mounting Ideas

Before I retired I had a set of fog lights mounted on my '71 4x4 with a snow plow mount also. Was using an 8" channel iron for front bumper & plow mount. Worked quite well at the time but now no longer have the plow mounted and went back to a stock '71/'72 style bumper with the turn signal lights. Have factory bumper guards added and would like some ideas to mount the fog lights without drilling holes in the bumper or the bumper guards. There are a couple factory holes (?) at the bottom lower edge of the stock bumper but am thinking that would be to low to be effective for the fog lights. No longer drive to work at 4:00 AM on foggy mornings but still get a bit of fog now and then. Let's see some pics of how you mounted them on your truck.

Re: Fog Light Mounting Ideas

Fog lights are supposed to be mounted lower.Look at factory rides with fog lamps.I would mount to bumper brackets or frame and maybe do a guard to protect them from curbs etc.

Re: Fog Light Mounting Ideas

LMC makes a bumper with integrated fog lights, if you want to buy a new bumper. Not sure if they have a 72 style.

Re: Fog Light Mounting Ideas

Guess I should have mentioned not wanting to use the LMC styled bumper. Looking for ideas to mount the after market old school period correct amber fog lights. Have a NOS set picked up at a swap meet and do not want to drill holes in the bumper or bumper guards. Was wanting to see some ideas for mounting above the bumper in front of the egg crate grill. May wind up going with mounting them to the lower edge of the bumper as there are holes there I could use. Only worry then is rock or gravel damage perhaps. Guess that is why they make replacements tho.

Re: Fog Light Mounting Ideas

I'd mount them as low as possible, since they are fog lights and not driving lights. In the existing holes on the bottom lip of the bumper sounds perfect to me.

I've been looking for the same thing. I found these brackets on Amazon.com. They clamp on to bumper without drilling holes. KC Hilites used to make something similar, but don't think they do any more.

My only concern would be vibration. It would drive me nuts driving down the road and seeing the light beams bouncing up and down.
