It will never read 30-40 psi at idle when warm. That's race car pressure right there.

Gary

My 400sb runs a little warm on the interstate and gets around 20psi after I get off the big road. Normal driving and well up to temp nets me those 30-40 psi at idle. My idle is a little higher though around 900 in neutral Might be time for an oil cooler as my filter is a little closer to the headers than I like making me run the short filter.

Wow... All your oil must be up in the valve covers trying to drain back down. Must be a high volume/high pressure pump.

Re: low low oil pressure after warm HELP

Well, I changed the oil filter from the Fram to a Wix. I didn't figure that it would make a difference in oil pressure, and it didn't.

Meeting with the engine rebuilder this weekend. I'm pretty sure I'm looking at pressure getting past the mains.

Engine was rebuilt, new cam, polished the crank. In hindsight, with the money that I've got sank into this motor, I would recommend just getting a crate motor.

I definitely want to find out what's going on before I put the front clip back on, and final paint.
